I really loved this post and had fun reading other bloggers stories. I decided to join in and write a quick post about how I came up with the name for my blog, here is my story...

| Me - busy in the garden |
When I decided to start a blog, I was excited to start writing and the creative juices were flowing. Coming up with a name was an afterthought. I think I had 10 posts written before I finally settled on a name for my blog.
Figuring out what to name my blog was a big challenge, I am not very creative when it comes to these things (my first kitten was named "kitty" for 3 months before I decided on a name for him). So I started a list of potential blog names, and kept adding more as they came into my head.
I finally made myself pick one because I wanted to start posting all the blogs I wrote (the first thing Blogger asks when you try to start a new blog is for the blogs name).
Get Busy Gardening! came from a few things. Everyone calls me a busy bee all the time because I'm always busy doing something (I can't sit still). I knew I wanted to use the word "Busy" in my name and had several options written down that incorporated "Busy" into the name.

Every time I looked at my list, Get Busy Gardening! stood out the most. I finally chose this name because I've always liked the quote from the movie Shawshank Redemption... "Get busy living or get busy dying".
I added the exclamation point at the end of my blog name because I wanted it to be a statement... now get out there and Get Busy Gardening!
I wish I would have kept the piece of paper I wrote all those names on, it would be fun to look at it now.
It's fun to read how other bloggers came up with their names, and there are several stories to read on the Garden Faerie's blog. Be sure to check those out too.
I've been wanting to try one of these Mister Linky's, so I'm adding one here. Hope it works...
So join in the fun and share the story of your blog name too. Post a link to your blog post in the linky below, then be sure to leave a comment.

This is a great idea! It's kind of embarrassing how I came up with my blog's very simple name, but I will try to post about it soon and link to your blog. If you have a chance, please join in the "lessons learned" meme at PlantPostings, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat, I'm looking forward to reading your story. I'll check out the lessons learned meme right now. I haven't heard about that one. Thanks!

Your before looks impressive. Good bones. Just add plants. And an after from the same place? What happened to the rocks??
ReplyDeleteHi Elephant's Eye, thanks for posting the link to your blog post. Actually, the picture with the rocks is more recent. We put the rock wall in a couple years ago to level out the bed and fix some drainage issues. This is my vegetable garden from last spring. Notice the winter sowing containers sitting on the ground behind me, waiting to be planted.

Hello again Amy... your name sounds a good plan to me. As Elephant's Eye says seeing your plant selection for your very interesting looking garden space will be great :-)
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you want my link here too but I'll add it and please just remove it if you are looking for different blogs from the ones you've already seen :-)
Hi Shirl, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! I put the linky on there for anyone to post! Thanks for joining in!
