October What's Bloomin'

The flowers have been going strong in my gardens over the past month. But that's quickly changing now that we're getting into mid-October. Many of my indoor plants have been blooming too, so I get to share those with you.

Here are some of my favorites that have bloomed recently...

Starfish plant (aka carrion plant)

Epiphyllum cactus

Gaillardia Goblin

Variegated obedient plant

Gladiola

Castor bean with dahlias

Hibiscus (late bloomer)

Rudbeckia

Each week during the summer, I create a new flower arrangement with whatever is blooming in my garden at the time. Check out some of my latest flower arrangements...

Arrangement from October 5th

  4. Hi bakingbarb - thanks for the nice comment. Those are two of my favorites too. The starfish plant blooms are stinky, smells like rotting flesh! :-) I get tons of compliments on my castor bean plants too! Love them in the garden!

  6. Beautiful. That starfish plant is amazing! And the epi is lovely too.. I can't wait until mine do that. (The cuttings are all still looking good.)

  7. nk - glad to hear your cuttings are doing well! They like to be pot bound before they will flower, so keep them in a small pot until they fill it. Mine are so root bound, I can't see any dirt, just roots. The pot keeps falling over too.
